Commit to Be Fit 5k

GOAL: To make Columbus the Fittest City in the Nation by the Bicentennial — 2012

VISION: This is a "movement" where every able-bodied citizen in Columbus will
run or walk the Commit to Be Fit 5K (3.1 miles) by 2012.
Vehicle: The Commit to Be Fit 5k is the CELEBRATION of the commitment of all citizens of
the City of Columbus to get fit.
Why Now: Obesity is an epidemic and a public health crisis. Columbus is leading the nation
in changing the fitness habits of its citizens. Mayor Coleman and 10tv's Andrea Cambern are
committed to changing it and they are challenging the community to "Commit to be Fit"
with them.
Now is the time to make healthy decisions. The alternative does not work. Overeating.
Oversitting. And many of our kids are overweight. Columbus has made great strides in the last
few years, but Columbus is now going to lead the nation with our actions.
We will measurement the success of this movement by the number of citizens willing to
commit. Join the movement today:
Commit — to bind or obligate, as by pledge or assurance; pledge:
to commit oneself to a promise; to be committed to a course of action.
